Education
Professor Brodkin retired from teaching in 2009.
He taught Introduction to Indian Civilization, Modern Indian History, The Emergence of Indian Nationalism, Language, Caste and Communalism: Problems of Integration in South Asia, A Social History of Imperialism, Imperialism in Modern Asia, Women in South Asia and the Middle East, Islam and its Enemies, The Arab-Israeli Conflict, For Gods' Sake: Religious Conflict in the Middle East and South Asia and Antisemitism.
He directed numerous SATA (Study Away Teach Away) India programs; the first in 1996, then in 2000, 2002 and 2004, SATA India 2006 and SATA India 2008. The program was structured to allow for total immersion in Indian studies.
Professor Brodkin served the College extensively as:

Professor Brodkin is a recipient of American Philosophical Society Research Grants, a Canada Council Fellowship, and a Smuts Memorial Fellowship of Cambridge University. His articles have appeared in International Affairs, Journal of Asian Studies, Modern Asian Studies, Indian Economic and Social History Review, and Indo-British Review: A Journal of History.
