Frida Morelli received a B.A. in Translation and Interpreting in Italy, a Master's Degree in Linguistics from George Mason University and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Maryland College Park, with a specialization in phonological theory.
She is the author of Obstruent Clusters in Optimality Theory, a study of the universal principles that govern how consonants are clustered in syllables in the world’s languages. She is also interested in second language learning and teaching methodologies in the foreign language classroom.
At Connecticut College she regularly teaches all levels of Italian, a First-Year seminar and courses in Linguistics. She coordinates the elementary Italian program and is Director of Linguistics.
